The International Van of the Year (IVoY) 2010 award has been given to Nissan’s NV200 van. The jury was composed of 23 specialized European journalists, who represent about half a million readers in Europe. IVoY’s press release said that the Nissan impressed the jury with its creation of a “compact light commercial vehicle that sets new standards in terms of internal space in relation to the external dimensions.” Continued after the jump!
Andy Palmer, Nissan vice president, expressed his delight at receiving the award that recognized Nissan’s determination to “create innovative light commercial vehicles that exceed customer expectations.”
He added that the NV200 is a global vehicle that has unparalleled functionality with a striking design. He further described the NV200 van as “an efficient and reliable business tool.”
The NV200 van made its debut last May at the 2009 Barcelona Auto Show. Buyers have two engine options: diesel and petrol. The petrol version is Nissan’s aluminum 1.6l HR16 engine, which generates 108 horsepower and 153 Nm of torque.
