After Nissan launches its initial Juke Nismo and 370Z Nismo models, the automaker will unveil several more Nismo models over several years. According to sales and marketing vice president Paul Wilcox, the company has pledged to see the Nismo become an "accessible performance brand.” He added that all Nismo models would be affordable and would appeal to a bigger audience. The company will begin with the Juke and then it will launch more models in the future, but always with the focus on its performance credentials. To this day, Nismo has been building high-performance specials and race cars for Nissan in the Japanese market. According to Nismo chief Shoichi Miyatani, Nissan continues to honor its commitment to producing strong models that motorsport enthusiasts would like. However, he claims that this doesn’t build a brand and that these car types are fine for the top line but then, these volumes are too low. He wants to make Nismo accessible to buyers who are younger as well as those who are female. While diesel Nismos are still a possibility, it’s likely that Nissan will be focusing on petrol-powered models initially.
