Nissan of North America is joining Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Land Rover, in pulling out of the North American International Auto Show, a.k.a. the Detroit Auto Show that's going to be held in January 2009. This action is an enormous blow to the world-renowned auto show, which has in times past, brought every key car manufacturer to showcase their creations there. The main reason for the pullout by the Japanese car company, as it was with the other firms, is the current economic instability. More bad news is forthcoming since Nissan has also decided not to display at the Chicago Auto Show either, that one set for February 2009, for the very same grounds. According to Nissan it has sufficiently covered new product openings for 2009 at the recently concluded 2008 LA Auto Show where it introduced the new 370 Z and Cube. Reducing expenditures and saving cash is the highest priority at the moment and the cost of joining these car shows are "not a small line item on your marketing budget," according to Nissan.
