Nissan updates the 2010 Maxima, Altima, Sentra and Versa sedans

Nissan determined that it was time to give some of its sedans a mid-cycle lift and so it decided to add more consumer electronics to the 2010 Nissan Altima, Maxima and Sentra. The Bluetooth wireless connections in the Altima and Maxima have been expanded to allow music to be transferred from an iPod. The navigation systems for the Altima and Maxima were also updated to now include restaurant reviews, weather forecasts and warnings, and traffic updates. Nissan has added a $400 navigation option for the Sentra. Some minor exterior and interior styling changes were also made on the 2010 Altima and Sentra.
The Maxima's navigation system is part of a $1,850 package that includes a hard drive for music storage and DVD videos. The Altima's package is priced at $1,780. Mark Perry, Nissan North America's director of product planning, said that buyers of lower-priced vehicles such as the Sentra are reluctant to splurge money for a navigation system. However, Nissan said that its own data and J.D. Power agree that owners of portable navigation systems are willing to give up their portables for a $400 in-dash system. The $400 navigation system, which is engineered by Bosch, serves as a display for the audio system. The unit will be available on the Sentra starting in December. [via theautochannel]
