Nissan’s new electric vehicle coming to the Tokyo Motor Show

It is reported that this coming August 2, Nissan will launch its new global headquarters in Yokohama where it will be introducing its new global electric car to the public for the first time. The latest Nissan Electric Vehicle, dubbed as a medium five-door hatch with a dedicated body design, will first be shown as a prototype after which the production version will be set for a formal introduction this coming October at the Tokyo Motor Show. Nissan's Oppama plant in Japan will handle the production of the car which will commence in the winter of next year, although Nissan added that their other global facilities could also receive the new Electric Vehicle.
The initial intended production figure is set for 50,000 vehicles annually, with increase of production foreseen beginning 2012 or 2013, with the electric motor planned to be manufactured in Yokohama and the inverter initially in the Zama facility of Nissan. The lithium-ion batteries, which will be powering the electric motor, will be made by AESC, a Nissan affiliate based in Zama, Japan. The Japanese carmaker says that their batteries come with higher reliability and performance with double the power and energy in comparison to a regular li-lo battery.
It is further reported that Nissan is going ahead with the next Micra, the model described as Nissan's global entry vehicle, which will be released in the spring of next year. For the markets of Europe, the Micra will be produced in India and for the Japanese markets it will be manufactured in Thailand. However, China and two other unrevealed nations will also manufacture the car to help achieve the goal of selling a million units one year after full production is reached. In another scene, reports say that Nissan is currently modifying the design of the Nissan Patrol for the Middle East, however, Europe will also be receiving the modified version next year for the very first time.
