Nurburgring receives the Nissan GT-R safety car

It's only fitting that the car that claims to have made the fastest lap around the Nurburging track gets to be used as the fast response vehicle for cars that get into trouble while lapping the 14-mile track. The delivery of a Nissan GT-R safety has just been made to Nurburging. And not without controversy since rival Porsche strongly disputes Nissan's claim of finishing the track in 7 min, 26.70 sec. To fulfill its new role, the GT-R has been modified. The back seat was taken out to make room for a tank of fire-retarding foam, while there's now also a roll cage and carbonfiber Recaro sports seats. A fire hose is also stored in the boot.
