2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe
Finally! Cadillac revealed today the 2011 CTS-V Coupe, a new car set to make its debut at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The CTS-V Coupe marries our most potent and sophisticated technology with our most dramatic production design. This combination of visual and technical attributes is designed to create a very compelling choice for luxury sports car consumers, said Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager.
Based on the CTS-V Sport Sedan, the new coupe is about two inches (51 mm) lower, its overall length is two inches (51 mm) shorter and it shares only the instrument panel, console, headlamps, front fenders and grille. Other key design features include the classic hardtop styling with no conventional B-pillar, a faster windshield angle (62.3 degrees) and a nearly horizontal backglass, touch-pad operation for the doors, signature lighting, highlighted with LED light pipes, signature center high-mounted stop lamp which acts as a rear spoiler and an aerodynamic roof-mounted antenna for OnStar and XM Satellite Radio.
Under the hood we find the powerful LSA 6.2L supercharged V8 engine (found also on the CTS-V Sport Sedan) capable to deliver an impressive 556 horsepower (415 kW) and 551 lb.-ft. of torque (747 Nm). With these numbers the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. The impressive engine features an intercooled Eaton supercharger system, premium aluminum-alloy cylinder heads and numerous details designed in order to make it smoother as possible. Also, it is mated to a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual with a dual-disc clutch and a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic with paddle-shift control.
The comfort was not forgotten and in order to do this, the manufacturer installed its well-known Magnetic Ride Control, the world's fastest-reacting suspension technology. The car also includes sophisticated braking and tire systems, delivered by the two best companies: Brembo and Michelin. Michelin partnered with Cadillac engineers to develop its acclaimed Pilot Sport PS2 summer tire for CTS-Vand its exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels while the brake rotors from Brembo employ a "dual-cast" technology that combines cast iron and aluminum, resulting in excellent performance and weight reduction.
Inside, the Recaro performance driving seats are optional and provide excellent support for spirited driving. The interior also includes a new Saffron color option, hand-stitched instrument panel, door trim and center console as well as a 40-gigabyte hard drive, advanced navigation system with a deployable screen and Bose digital surround audio and factory-installed Bluetooth phone integration.
