Official: Audi A5 Sportback teasers and info released

Details of the latest Audi A5 Sportback, which is due to hit European markets after its introduction at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September, have been released by the carmaker today.
Price tag in Europe for the new model begins at 36,050 Euros ($49,850) for the basic 2.0-liter TDI model, but Audi has released information that an even less expensive variant will come by the middle of 2010. The new A5 Sportback, which has been described as a practical yet elegant coupe, comes with a five-door body and a stretched out profile. The profile is a consequence of a roof section with a long, narrowing roofline that is about 36mm lower than the A4 Sedan plus short overhangs on the front and rear sections together with a 2.810 meter wheelbase. The interior comes with enough space for adults and a 980-liter storage space when the rear seats are folded. There will be two initial gasoline and three diesel engines offered for the A5. The gasoline units include the 2.0 TFSI quattro that produces 211hp (155kW) and top torque of 258lb-ft (350Nm), and the 3.2-liter V6 quattro that can produce 265hp (195kW). Both engines come with the Audi valvelift system which generates more power and higher torque but with lower fuel consumption ratings.
Also offered for the new model are the 2.0-liter TDI that produces 170hp (125kW) and 258lb-ft (350Nm) of torque, a 6-speed manual gearbox and a start/stop fuel-saving feature, also a 2.7 TDI that produces 190hp (140kW) and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of top torque, and, lastly, the 3.0-liter V6 TDI that comes with 240hp (170kW) with a top torque of 369lb-ft and quattro AWD system. The A5 Sportback is also equipped with the most current electronic stability program that comes with an electronic differential lock on the front axle for optimized handling performance. Further feature includes the Audi drive select dynamic driving system which permits the user to select from three different modes which takes control of the throttle response, the shift points for its 7-speed S tronic or multitronic transmissions and is compatible with servotronic steering. A fourth programmable mode becomes available when the A5 comes with the MMI operating system.
