While BMW X1 vehicle has yet to be publicly unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the company has received plenty of pre-orders. Official introduction had been scheduled for October 24 but BMW had already started production of the vehicle at the Leipzig plant in Germany. European stores should start receiving the model in a few weeks. At full capacity, the Leipzig plant is building 730 vehicles per day with 75 of them being the new X1. With the high demand, BMW plans to boost production of the X1 by the end of the year to 300 units per day. Six engine choices are available: xDrive28i, xDrive23d, xDrive20d, sDrive20d, xDrive18d and sDrive18d. The most powerful unit, fitted on the xDrive28i, is a six-cylinder, 258 hp gasoline unit. It can reach 60mph in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 205 km/h (127 mph - 230 km/h or 143 mph with optional high-speed set-up).
