Official: Ford Fiesta S2000 rally car

Ford Fiesta S2000 Rally The new Ford Fiesta S2000 rally car, said to be the first global rally car for Ford Motor Co. and M-Sport, was recently unveiled. It will make its public debut as course car on the Rally of Scotland, with WRC driver Matthew Wilson behind the wheel. After that, competition plans are unclear. It is eligible for outright honors in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and class honors in the WRC next year, but Ford has no plans to run works cars. Continued after the jump! Instead, Ford Focus WRCs will continue its campaign, offering the S2000 car to customers.  M-Sport, which also builds Ford's WRC cars, created the S2000 rally car. M-Sport chief Matthew Wilson expressed his excitement, saying that the launch of this “fantastic rally car” is a big step to seeing it out competing in rallies. He mentioned that this is the first time in five years that Ford has been able to offer a Ford rally car that can seek overall victory in national championships across the world. Wilson acknowledged the hard work of Christian Loriaux and his team, as well as everyone who works at M-Sport. He also lauded Ford, which worked closely with M-Sport for the project. M-Sport's technical director Christian Loriaux said testing gave promising results and so he is looking forward to seeing how the real pace of the car compares to the competition.
