General Motors Co. didn't advertise in last year's Super Bowl as it was headed towards bankruptcy, but according to some insiders who spoke with the Wall Street Journal, we should expect the carmaker to make an appearance at the Super Bowl XLV broadcast on February 6. In 2009, GM, Chrysler Group and Ford Motor Co. failed to advertise in the event. And in this year's Super Bowl, Chrysler was the lone domestic carmaker to have an ad spot, which ran a commercial called "Man's Last Stand" for the Dodge Charger R/T that was meant to appeal to the male population. The Wall Street Journal report also stated that during next year's game in the Cowboys Stadium near Dallas, the following companies have ads: Hyundai Motor America, Kia Motors America Inc., Volkswagen AG and Audi AG. GM's new marketing chief, Joel Ewanick, has a reputation for advertising during major national events. When Ewanick was still the head of marketing at Hyundai, he launched the Assurance campaign during the 2009 Super Bowl. For next year's game, each 30-second ad spot sells for $2.8 million to $3 million.
