Honda's newest compact hybrid models will soon be available in Japan. Honda's CR-Z sporty hybrid model will be for sale in February 2010 (this is not something new because we revealed back in June the plans for the new hybrid sports car) while Fit Hybrid will be available before 2010 ends. With this development, Honda has beefed up its lineup, which already had the Insight and Civic Hybrid. Honda extols the unique characteristics of its IMA or Integrated Motor Assist, including compact size, weight and high efficiency.

Are you in the market for mid- to large-sized hybrid vehicles? Honda is currently still developing a new hybrid system for larger vehicles so you may have to wait a bit. Leveraging its flexible production system, Honda is producing the Insight model at two factories: at the No. 1 line at its Suzuka factory and now at the No. 3 line, which began in mid-June 2009.

In its efforts seeking to reduce CO2 emissions, Honda says it will continue to research and develop technologies to improve fuel efficiency and be able to deliver products with improved environmental performance to as many customers as possible. Honda cited its CR-Z concept vehicle, which made its debut at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show in 2007. It features advanced technologies to make driving enjoyable while reducing the vehicle's carbon footprint.
