A vehicle that honored the late Carroll Shelby was unveiled at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, which is a part of the Concours d’Elegance. To build the one-of-a-kind Mustang GT500, three companies -- Ford Motor Company, Shelby American, and Ford Racing – came together. This car is powered by the standard 5.8-litre aluminum-block V8 that the GT500 also uses. It gets additional power from a Ford Racing 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger that raises the output to 850 hp. To manage the additional power, the car has upgraded brakes as well as a set of 13-inch-wide rear wheels covered in 345-section high-performance tires. The custom ‘Stang’s appearance is enhanced with a distinctive hood and a new rear wide-body kit that makes the car seem wider and bolder. It features the historical Guardsman Blue paint and Wimbledon White stripes. Ford also divulged that a road at its Product Development Center in Dearborn, Mich., has been re-named to further honor Carroll Shelby.
