The money-back-guarantee program that General Motors Co. launched recently has had only one return so far, according to GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz. Since the program began, approximately 150,000 GM vehicles were sold, of which, only a little more than 100 customers opted for a 60-day money-back guarantee. GM gives a $500 cash incentive to those who are sure of their purchase and decide not to take advantage of this program, says Autonews. During a recent media event, Lutz disclosed that the lone car return was by a man who had bought a Chevrolet Corvette with a manual transmission "by mistake." After a month of driving the new car around, he found shifting gears to be inconvenient and exchanged the car for an automatic transmission.
