In anticipation of the new Astra's official unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Opel has released the details of the car's engine range. All Euro 5 compliant, the revised line-up offers a reduction in CO2 emissions compared with their equivalent models in the current Astra. CO2 emissions and fuel consumption will be cut across the 8-engine range by about 10%. A new member of the range is a 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine that produces 138bhp and 147lb ft of torque. While this engine is a replacement of the old 1.8-litre petrol unit, it offers the same amount of power, 15% more torque and lower CO2 emissions. The other petrol units offered are a 1.4 and two 1.6s, one of which is turbocharged. Three diesel engines will be available -- a 1.3, a 1.7 and a 2.0-litre -- and all feature common-rail fuel injection. Also in Opel's plans is a fuel-efficient Ecoflex model that will be added to the range in due course. Prior to the Frankfurt Motor Show, Irmscher revealed its latest kit for the new Astra!
