Opel/Vauxhall plans to soon produce the Mokka, a new compact SUV based on the architecture of the Corsa, according to German magazine AutoBild. It’s expected to compete within the segment that also includes Nissan Juke. Last March, there were already rumors about this model. However, this is the first confirmation from the automaker about this project. The automaker also confirmed that ‘Mokka’ will be the name of this vehicle.
The Mokka will have its official introduction this March at the Geneva Motor Show and is expected to have its commercial debut in November 2012.
To cut costs, the model has the same platform as the Opel Corsa. It has a length of 4,300 mm, which means that it’s sized similarly to the Meriva. Opel will offer front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. This entry level model is priced at around 18,000 €, which is 2,000 € higher than the inexpensive Meriva.
