An international board of judges has seen the remarkable design of the Opel Flextreme concept car and it has gained the esteemed Singaporean red dot award. Among the biggest and well-known design awards on earth, the international red dot design award is certainly one of them. This Singaporean award is given to the best design concept "that has the power to improve our world in the future." The award is given by an international team of design experts to products with a high degree of innovation, functionality and formal quality. The Saab Aero X concept car garnered the highly esteemed prize in 2007. "The high number of quality entries made this competition extremely challenging and, hence, winning the red dot an exceptional achievement," stated Ken Koo, President of the Singaporean red dot design award. Envisioned at General Motors' European Design Center, the Flextreme debuted in 2007 in Frankfurt at the International Motor Show (IAA). The vehicle is a study of the upcoming design of the monocab segment, integrating substitute power propulsion with new, daring styling. The monocab class was helped started by Vauxhall/Opel, the European leader in monocabs, via the Zafira and Meriva.
