An aftermarket variant of the Insignia Sports Tourer was announced today by the German tuner Steinmetz after the official reveal of the Insignia 5-door at the Essen Motor Show in 2008. According to reports, the model will make its introduction to the world at the Tuning World Bodensee 2009. In reality, the aftermarket variant of the Insignia is fully loaded with all kinds of improvements, together with a new front spoiler, a modified front grill, a special kit for lowering the body by an estimated 25mm in addition to a wheel-tire combination in 20-inch with 245-35-R20. To improve aerodynamics and the overall exterior look of the car, a two-piece spoiler has been installed on the roof. Exhaust tailpipes by Steinmetz are also counted in the package, providing a beefier appearance to the rear section. The downside, however, is that there are no upgrades for the powerplant at the moment, but a performance improvement for the 2.0 CDTI will be revealed at the Opel Meeting in Oschersleben.
