Opel to offer Calibra in two body styles: coupe and cabrio

Opel is preparing for a grand revival and it isn’t leaving anything to chance. It is making sure that the return of the Calibra to its lineup will be successful and to do this, the GM brand will be launching the car in two body styles, according to L'Automobile Magazine. The 2013 launch of the Calibra coupe will be followed very soon by the presentation of the cabrio version. Like the coupe, the cabrio will be inspired by the GTC concept that Opel introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in 2007.
That concept was later turned into the Insignia (known as Buick Regal in the US market) so it’s expected that there will be several similarities with the Calibra. The Calibra will be powered by a 3.8l turbo unit, which can deliver 325hp.
It is actually the same engine that was fitted into the Insignia OPC version. In the future, the model will also be offered with smaller turbocharged units, which offer a combination of power and economy. The model will soon be available with an all-wheel drive system to go with the power plant, giving it an advantage over its rivals, the BMW 3 Series and Audi A3.
