Opel unions have threatened to pull out their financial support unless they're given a say in the ongoing negotiations on which company will be granted the privilege to buy Opel/Vauxhall from General Motors. The unions, who claim that no bidder will contribute as much money as they will, have also said that they will boycott efforts to cut costs if they don't get to participate in the talks. The labor leaders released a statement that demands that the existing Opel/Vauxhall plants should receive guarantees that rule out production shifts at least until 2014 that signals the end of the business plan. Meanwhile, German government spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm said that it is not considering a joint bid by Magna and RHJ International and that no such option was ever placed on the table.
