Opel’s finance chief Marco Molinari quits the carmaker

2010 Opel Insignia OPC Sports TourerFast on the heels of the resignation of the CEO of General Motors Co., Opel’s chief financial officer Marco Molinari quit to pursue other interests. There has been no replacement announced yet but Opel said that a successor will be “announced in due course.”

Molinari has served as Opel’s chief financial officer since 2005. It was in 1991 that he joined GM as senior financial analyst at the GM treasurer’s office in New York and has held several leadership positions with GM and Opel, including assignments in New York, Argentina, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Mexico, serving in eight countries on three continents. Opel Managing Director Hans Demant reveals Molinari’s significant role in helping Opel win a bridge loan from the German government when GM went into bankruptcy earlier this year. In a statement, Demant said that at a “very difficult period,” Molinari did a great job and “has proven his financial expertise.”
