Following the same recipe used for the Quattroporte Zegna Limited Edition, Maserati unveiled at he 2014 Paris Motor Show their new Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna Edition Concept. The new vehicle arrives with an exclusive Azzurro Astro exterior colour based on a triple layer pigment as well as with 20-inch Urano wheels showing a Liquid Metal finish.
Contemporary feel and dynamism are the first words that come to mind when seeing the interior of the Maserati Ghibli S Q4. The passenger compartment for instance has a dual-material and dual-color composition with Zegna anthracite silk and leather tones. The pattern of the interior is effectively characterized by matching the micro-chevron silk weave from Ermenegildo Zegna POLTRONA FRAU’s natural color leather.
Dynamism and a contemporary feel are the key words to read the dual-colour, dual-material composition of the passenger compartment - in leather tones and Zegna anthracite silk. While already an essentially sophisticated material, the silk is further enhanced with a macro-chevron hand-stitched pattern which is then polished by the seat piping. The matching salt & pepper silk jersey on the door panel is enhanced as well through alternating rib embroidery.
The seating has natural color leather with extra fine grain that contrasts with the light grey stitching. These are then matched with a central silk that is inserted with vertical rolls of micro-chevron weave located on the central seat and backrest portion. The central roll meanwhile has leather piping on its sides and showcases a special macro-chevron weave giving it a soft feel, and a technical and three-dimensional appearance.
The central span of the door panels is covered with Zegna silk Jersey which is then embellished with a diagonal roll pattern having alternating rib embroideries and a ton-sur-ton ornamental stitching. This is the same fabric that is applied to the top pillars, roof lining, and sunshades. They carry the “Ermenegildo Zegna Exclusively for Maserati” label. The luxurious and sophisticated finish of the Ghibli is also seen through the headrests which feature contrasting stitching along with the embroidered Trident emblem.
The interior of the car further highlights the signature dynamism of the Ermenegildo Zegna Concept and this is seen through the exquisite decorative glossy carbon fiber inserts that are then applied to its door panels and massive central tunnel. Owing to the transparent layer’s thickness and elaborate twill weave, the material is able to enhance the perception of the nature of the passenger compartment that it is technical, dynamic, and has superior quality.
Under the hood, the vehicle carries a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that generates 410 hp and 550 Nm of torque, which pushes it from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 284 km/h or 176 mph.
