Article by Christian Andrei, on September 24, 2010

The Audi A1 that will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show will get fitted with items that raise its value in the sports & performance segment. In the event, Audi will also display its 185 hp 1.4 liter TFSI engine. It will also be where it debuts the A1 Competition kit and the S-Line package for the car.

The Competition Kit offers a more aggressive front fascia, chromed accents for the front grille, and new lightweight alloy rims that use a two-tone finish.

It will also get multiple “heritage” vinyls inspired by Walter Rohl’s legendary Audi Quattro. This package has a price tag of €1,865.

A1 will also be offered with the Competition Kit Legends interior package, which includes redesigned ventilation nozzles, a new rear-view mirror, modified door handles and special floor mats.

Competition Kit Legends is priced at €670. As previously reported, Audi will also present the S-Line package for the A1. This has a price of €1,900 and will go on sale in the following months.

The new Audi A1 is not just a premium car, but also an athletic one. Openly suggesting the dynamics and character of the three-door Audi A1 are its imposing looks and stance. For instance, the new Audi comes with a pronounced shoulder line and sharply sloping C-pillars, as well as color-contrasted roof arch.

Measuring 3.95 meters (12.96 feet) long, 1.74 meters (5.71 feet) wide and 1.42 meters (4.66 feet) tall, the new Audi A1 boasts of a low stance with short overhangs. Its wheelbase measures 2.47 meters (8.10 feet). In terms of design, the Audi A1 incorporates the carmaker's styling language that is not only emotional, but also bold and progressive.

Audi has been known to adopt ideas and innovation from its concept vehicles to its series production, and the new A1 is not an exception. In fact, the new Audi A1 is laden with many features and elements seen on the 2007 Audi A1 project quattro concept. The front end of the A1 resembles its family, although it features distinct detailed elements.

For instance, its single-frame grille is seamlessly integrated into the front end, featuring new angled top corners. Likewise, it features horizontally arranged brazes, which highlights the width of the front. The front also features large air intakes with horizontal bars, thereby boosting the athletic appeal of the Audi A1.

Positioned on the outer corners of these air intakes are the vehicle's fog lights. On the other hand, the Audi A1 bears a determined yet aggressive road-focused front appearance, thanks to specially designed 3D-styled headlights whose interior feature strongly curved wing structures.

Daytime running lights come as standard on the Audi A1, which can be further customized with optional xenon plus units. With this option, the A1's daytime running lights come with LEDs and a light guide, appearing as a homogenous strip tracing the wing.
