Skoda Auto reveals that it will be premiering a redesigned Octavia at the Paris Motor Show slated for October 2-19, 2008. Currently the brand’s bestseller, this model has been either produced or assembled in a total of 8 countries. This newest version will have a more powerful design.
BOD Member in-charge of technological development Dr. Eckhard Scholz shared that the Octavia continues to be very popular around the world as it is the most successful model of the brand. As such it will have a special place in Škoda's line.
Dr. Scholz added that the latest model shows that it has undergone a complete transformation and this is seen in the technology used and even the exterior and interior components. On its front, the improvements include the headlamps which have a new shape and that are made even bolder, the one-piece bumper, and the stronger radiator grille.
The rear portion has improvements as well with the new tail lamp covers and the dynamic bumper integrated with cat eyes. The interior on the other hand has Škoda's latest navigation and audio systems. A lot of features have been redesigned as well like the dashboard that has a white backlight, the central console, and the controls for the air conditioning.
Even the steering wheel and the decorative strips placed on the doors were also redesigned. New upholstery fabrics are also offered across the three equipment levels of Ambiente, Elegance, and Classic. Helping with the active safety system are the new adaptive xenon headlamps.
Passive safety was improved as well with front WOKS headrests installed which increases protection during a rear impact. These are also available in all equipment levels. The parts under the hood were enhanced as well with the new .4 TSI/90 kW engine.
The two turbocharged 1.4-liter and 1.8-liter petrol engines are paired with the twin-clutch seven-speed automatic DSG transmission. In addition to the redesigned Octavia, Škoda will also be showing the Octavia Combi and the Octavia Combi 4x4.
The company will also be displaying its whole product line like the Roomster Cycling and the black Fabia SportLine with its grey roof. As expected, its flagship vehicle, the new Superb, will be part of the exhibit.
It will also include its eco-friendly portfolio dubbed the GreenLine, which is exemplified by the Superb and the Fabia. For those who have a more active lifestyle, the company will also be displaying the Scout versions of the Octavia and Roomster.
