Peugeot has announced another version of the Peugeot 208 supermini car – the Peugeot 208 XY. The announcement came days after the marque introduced its Peugeot 208 GTi derivative. The 208 XY is expected to exhibit elegance, occupant space, compactness, equipment and style as demonstrated by the 208. Available in six colours including purple, the Peugeot 208 XY features chromed details, as well as touches of Purple on the Peugeot logos and the central wheel caps. The supermini car’s mirror casings and fog lamp trims as well as the window trims and rear skirt bead are blanketed in bright chrome, while its quarter panel trim and centre pillar are finished in gloss black.
The Peugeot 208 XY boasts of being visible both during the day and night, thanks to its light signature as boosted by new halogen headlamps, equipped with a latest generation light guide. These lamps with a rectangular internal structure employ LED technology for the directional guides and daytime lighting. The main beam headlamps are enclosed in a floating trim, lending Peugeot 208 XY the impression of an iris. The interior of the Peugeot 208 XY is also worth some attention, especially the passenger cabin that is endowed with carefully designed components. The 208 XY is designed to ensure that the vents, the dashboard decoration, side decorations of the touchscreen, the steering wheel insert, the front and rear door crossbars and the seat belts all blend with the same interior ambiance.
The 208 XY is also fitted with an aluminium pedal bracket and footrest. The 208 XY features a 17" diamond-Anthra Mercure multi-spoke wheels house, complemented by alloy wheel cap with Purple edging. The tailgate of the vehicles bears the ‘XY’ signature logo. A buyer is given an option to personalise the 208 XY with roof decals. The announcement of the Peugeot 208 GTi and Peugeot 208 XY came ahead of their debut at the upcoming Paris Auto Show set from Sept. 29, 2012 to Oct. 14, 2012.
