To further differentiate its two brands, PSA/Peugeot-Citroen has appointed new design bosses for the marques. Gilles Vidal is new design director of Peugeot, while Thierry Metroz will head design at Citroen. They will be reporting to Jean-Pierre Ploue, PSA's design director. The new posts are intended to help the company pursue its goal of clearly differentiating its two brands and maintaining a lead in automobile design. Vidal, 37 years old, entered PSA in 1996.
And in early 2009, he was put in charge of concept cars for Peugeot's styling department. And as such, he contributed to defining Peugeot's new corporate identity, which will be unveiled in early January.
On the other hand, 46-year-old Metroz had been Renault's director of exterior design until last July. During this period, Metroz was able to establish design and styling units outside France. He also managed international projects in Asia and Brazil. The appointments take effect Jan. 4. [via autonews - sub. required]
