The Nissan Qashqai had better beware! Peugeot has affirmed a version patterned after its Prologue concept, observed at the Paris Motor Show this year, will be available for sale by the last quarter of the following year. It has T84 for its codename, although it is more likely to be labeled the 3008 when it appears in showrooms. The smaller SUV/hatchback will be the first version to bring the challenge directly to Nissan's best-seller Qashqai.
Two-wheel-drive versions of the 3008 will be available for sale next year, along with a selection of petrol or diesel power. And by the year 2011, an all-wheel-drive diesel-electric hybrid will come to be part of the range. Peugeot expects the latter will have a power generation of 197 hp, with CO2 discharges of 109 g/km. The price tags for the 3008 series is set to include a premium of about GBP1,000 over the corresponding to 308 hatchback versions.
More details are set to be made public at the official opening early in 2009. However, this is not everything Peugeot has in it collection. Sources reveal that the company is also preparing an all-new seven-seat MPV, founded on a similar platform. This is scheduled to be displayed in showrooms by 2010.
