Peugeot launches eco-version of 207 capable of 99g/km of CO2
An eco version of the Peugeot 207 hatchback has been launched emitting 99g/km of CO2, matching the Polo Bluemotion. The 1.6-liter HDi motor in the 207 Economique produces 90bhp, 11bhp more than the Volkswagen. The car costs £100 less than the Polo, at £12,995.
It has a unique aerodynamic pack and streamlined wheel trims. Ride height is lowered by 5mm and undertray covers have been placed on either side of the exhaust system and the fuel tank. Drag coefficient has been measured at 0.274, compared with a standard car’s 0.30. Its engine management software was adjusted to improve consumption efficiency and an EGR heat exchanger has been added to cool the re-injected exhaust gases. Boasting of a higher final drive ratio than the standard 207 hatchback, the Economique is also fitted with a specially modified five-speed manual gearbox. Michelin 15” 185/65R15 VLRR (Very Low Rolling Resistance) tires were fitted to reduce rolling resistance. Expect the new Peugeot 207 Economique and Economique+ to be available beginning this October.
