Pininfarina Nido Concept to make its debut in Japan

Pininfarina NidoThe Pininfarina Nido will grace Japan‚ shores for an exhibit about Italian culture set from Sept. 24 to Oct. 17. The Nido, which means ‚Äúnest‚Äù in Italian, is a quirky pedestrian-friendly microcar that first created a stir at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. The car‚ two-seat concept is a safety feature and is designed to protect the people inside and those outside the car. To put it bluntly, a collision at low speeds and a crosswalk will not lead to fatalities. To achieve that, Nido has a chassis with a deformable front section and a rigid safety cell surrounding the occupants, a shell that can slide horizontally and two ‚Äúabsorbers‚Äù for collisions.
