The Pininfarina Nido will grace Japan‚ shores for an exhibit about Italian culture set from Sept. 24 to Oct. 17. The Nido, which means ‚Äúnest‚Äù in Italian, is a quirky pedestrian-friendly microcar that first created a stir at the 2004 Paris Motor Show.
The car‚ two-seat concept is a safety feature and is designed to protect the people inside and those outside the car. To put it bluntly, a collision at low speeds and a crosswalk will not lead to fatalities. To achieve that, Nido has a chassis with a deformable front section and a rigid safety cell surrounding the occupants, a shell that can slide horizontally and two ‚Äúabsorbers‚Äù for collisions.
