Porsche Boxster Spyder

Porsche announced today that its Boxster Spyder recently received the "best-handling car in America" award from Car and Driver magazine. The Boxster Spyder showed its qualities and overtook six high-class competitors during the test drives at the Waterford Hills race circuit in Michigan. Currently, this is the top model in the Boxster range and features a well-balanced chassis, precise steering and predictability at the handling limits.

The Boxster Spyder is a two-seater described in few words: light, powerful and economical. It weighs only 1275 kilograms and is powered by a six-cylinder engine delivering 320 hp (239 kW). With these numbers it can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds from a standing start and has a fuel consumption of just 9.3 litres per 100 kilometres (30 mpg imp.) in the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle).

Regarding its design, the car features a flat, light fabric hood, which extends far to the rear, but also double-bubble soft top hardcover on the continuous rear lid. For those who don’t know, the Boxster Spyder is seen as the successor of the legendary 550 Spyder from 1953. The legendary 550 Spyder had a total weight of just 550 kilograms and won numerous victories on the round circuit and in the road races popular at that time.
