Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Panamera Turbo and Turbo S recalled in Canada

2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

In Canada, a recall has been issued for certain 2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo, 2011-12 Panamera Turbo and 2012 Panamera Turbo S vehicles over the discovery that the turbine in the turbocharger may have been improperly manufactured. Transport Canada announced that the defect will lead to a significantly poorer performance. If the car continues to be used, it may result to a fracture in the turbine shaft. If this fracture occurs and the shaft is removed from its bearing, there may be oil in the exhaust system and this may result to a fire. For now, the recall covers just 24 units. Although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn’t been involved yet, it may become an issue in the U.S. since Porsche models are imported. Nevertheless, the recall affects very few vehicles so it isn’t probable. Canadian owners of recalled vehicles can get their vehicle’s turbo assembly replaced by the dealership for free.
