Porsche might soon return to Le Mans with a vehicle that can be a serious contender for the top position, according to company officials. In an interview with Autosport, Porsche boss Michael Macht talked about having big plans for the future and that there will be a surprising announcement in the spring. However, Macht did not disclose what car would be making its competitive debut. Macht added that when the Porsche family does make a bid for Le Mans, it will be prepared and will only go if it has a chance to win. Wolfgang Durheimer, Porsche board member in charge of motorsport, said that despite Porsche and Audi being part of the VW group now, there are no hurdles to having them race against each other at Le Mans.
