After few leaked photos, Porsche officially introduced today the all-new 911 (991) Carrera 4, a model that benefits of the latest version of the active all-wheel drive system PTM (Porsche Traction Management). As expected, when you will see a Carrera 4 model on the streets you will see that this model is with 22 mm wider than the rear-wheel drive version. Moreover, the rear tyres are each ten millimetres wider and the red light band that connects the two taillights has also taken on a new form. The 911 Carrera 4 Coupe features the same 3.4-liter engine delivering 350 hp (257 kW) and can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in as little as 4.5 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.7 s), while the top speed is limited to 285 km/h or 177 mph (Cabriolet: 282 km/h or 175 mph). Using the PDK, fuel consumption is 8.6 l/100 km (CO2 203 g/km) for the Coupé and 8.7 l/100 km (CO2 205 g/km) for the Cabriolet. Regarding the 911 Carrera 4 S, this model is powered by a 3.8-litre rear-mounted boxer engine delivering 400 hp (294 kW).
With these numbers, it can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.3 seconds) and a top speed of 299 km/h or 185 mph (Cabriolet: 296 km/h or 183 mph). Using the PDK, the 911 Carrera 4 S has a fuel consumption of 9.1 l/100 km (CO2 215 g/km) for the Coupé and 9.2 l/100 km (CO2 217 g/km) for the Cabriolet. Other new elements in the 911 Carrera 4 are the all-wheel drive indicator, Porsche Active Safe, sliding glass sunroof and the extended Sport Chrono pack. In the new 911 Carrera 4, there is a new menu in the instrument cluster informs the driver how the PTM all-wheel drive is currently distributing engine power. Furthermore, the 911 Carrera all-wheel drive models Porsche is introducing the optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to the entire model range.
This system controls distance to traffic ahead and vehicle speed. When mated with the PDK, the Adaptive Cruise Control adds the safety function Porsche Active Safe (PAS). A new sliding glass roof is also available and Porsche will offer it as an option for the safety function Porsche Active Safe (PAS). Regarding the Sport Chrono pack, in the Sport Plus mode, the system automatically double-declutches during downshifts. As expected, the 991 Carrera 4 will make its world debut in September, at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The models will launch at the end of 2012 and in Germany the 911 Carrera 4 Coupé will cost 97,557 euros, while the Cabriolet will cost 110,290 euros. The 911 Carrera 4 S Coupe will cost 112,313 euros, while the Cabriolet will be priced at 125,046 euros. All prices include 19 per cent VAT and country-specific features.
