Porsche opens the gates of Leipzig factory to the public

Porsche Leipzig Plant

Once more, Porsche made its Leipzig facility accessible to the public, with tours of the plant where the Panamera is manufactured. For eight months prior the tours were stopped because of the ongoing construction which expanded the facility by 22,000 sq.m. to house the swelling production capacity needed to build the latest model of the Panamera. Now, visitors are allowed to experience the manufacture of the Panamera at the said plant located in Saxony, Germany, which is home to the Cayenne SUV also. The tours, which are free of charge, can be booked online. The model is powered by two high-powered V8 powerplants, 400hp for the RWD Panamera S and AWD for the Panamera 4S and Panamera Turbo which produces 500hp, together with a 300hp V6 for the basic model. A hybrid variant will come later, according to Porsche while the rumors indicate a Panamera Cabrio! Introduced last April 19, the Panamera will hit the European markets by September of this year.
