Porsche Panamera making its official debut at the Shanghai Auto Show

2011 Porsche Panamera

The Shanghai Auto Show in April 2009 will be used by Porsche to showcase its latest Panamera sedan, changing its initial plans to unveil it a month earlier in Geneva. The increasing importance of the Chinese market is the reason behind the decision, besides, of course, to the rapidly growing neighbors such as India and Russia. 8,190 vehicles were sold by the Stuttgart sports carmaker in China the previous financial year, and this was more than half the number of vehicles it sold in the preceding year. Likewise, sales in stable markets, such as Germany, plummeted by more than 5% over a similar period, Automotive News reports. Wendelin Wiedeking, the CEO of Porsche says he is hoping for "new market opportunities" and a "stronger presence" in regions like China as well as in the Middle East.
