Porsche planning to sell over 150,000 cars a year

To achieve Porsche AG's goal of doubling its sales, it would have to release new models, according to CEO Michael Macht. The company aims to sell 150,000 cars a year in the mid to long-term; that is, if the world economy picks up again. Macht emphasized that this cannot be attained with its four existing models. Increasing the number of units for each current model is not an option since the brand does value exclusivity. Porsche's lineup consists of the 911 sports coupe, the Boxster cabriolet and its hardtop variant, the Cayman, the Cayenne SUV and the Panamera luxury sedan. It has been reported that unit sales at the Porsche AG fell 24% to about 75,200 vehicles in the past fiscal year to the end of July 2009.
