Porsche preparing 911 GT3 RS Limited Edition

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

According to the latest reports from Dutch magazine AutoVisie, it appears that Porsche is currently planning a limited edition of the GT3 RS, called GT3 RS Limited Edition. Just like the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which was unveiled last year, the new 911 GT3 RS will carry a 4.0-liter engine (the standard model is powered by a 3.8-liter engine) capable to deliver 500 hp. 500 is also the number of the all 911 GT3 RS produced.

Same sources confirmed the fact that the car will be introduced to the market in late July and it appears that it will be the last edition based on the current generation, as the all-new 911 will be introduced in September at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

For those who don’t know, standard 911 GT3 RS is powered by a 3.8-liter engine delivering 450 hp which means more than 118 bhp per litre from the six-cylinder, an extremely high figure for natural-aspiration technology even in the strictest worldwide comparison. The car also comes with a special PASM suspension and with a wider track not only at the rear, but also on the front axle. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox optimised for short gearshift travel, low weight and high efficiency.
