Porsche to improve fuel efficiency on all models

With the announcements that Porsche has made lately about its future plans, it’s apparent that there has been a marked change in how it is preparing these plans. For instance, it seeks to implement changes at a lineup level, and not for individual models. Earlier this month, Porsche disclosed plans to offer a hybrid version of each of its models. And just very recently, Porsche said that it will reduce the fuel consumption figure on all of its models. To achieve these goals, Porsche would have to apply all its knowledge and experience to develop new technologies.
For example, Porsche already has the direct fuel injection (which cuts fuel consumption by 0.5 l/100 km) and the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission (which reduces fuel consumption by 0.6 l/100 km). With regards to the SUVs, an improved fuel economy can be achieved with the use of a new eight-speed automatic transmission Tiptronic S with automatic stop/start function.
Porsche was able to lower the weight of the Cayenne by using a new active and light four-wheel drive system. As a result, its fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures were also reduced. As soon as the hybrid version of its models arrive (the first is the Panamera, which may receive a hybrid version next year), the average fuel consumption for the Porsche models will be reduced. Porsche is also considering other measures, such as using four-cylinder turbocharged, direct-injected engines and cutting the weight even further.
