Porsche to launch diesel-powered Panamera in 2nd half of 2011

Porsche Panamera

A diesel-powered Panamera will be launched in the second half of 2011. Porsche CEO Matthias Müller confirmed this when he spoke with Germany's Westfalen-Blatt. One of Müller’s reasons for launching the new Panamera variant is the success of the Cayenne diesel. He didn’t disclose what engine would be used but it is widely believed that it would be the 3.0-liter TDI with 176 kW (240 PS / 236 hp) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. This will be attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling the car to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in a little over seven seconds. Müller also revealed that Porsche has become fond of the Cajan name for the entry-level crossover and is currently exploring its legal availability.
