Potential bidders submit their proposals to purchase Saab

Bidders in Sweden and the Netherlands are expected to submit their proposals right before the opportunity to purchase Saab closed. The Jan. 7 deadline for the sale of the Swedish car brand had attracted two anonymous Swedish groups, according to a Swedish business daily Dagens Industri. Joran Hagglund, Sweden's state secretary for industry, said that these bids are likely to meet the deadline set by Saab owner General Motors Co. He admits though that neither group had been able to show it had the financial backing necessary for a purchase. Hagglund revealed that several different groups have shown interest to bid for Saab since Dec. 18. Three of those groups come from Sweden. Hagglund clarified that Koenigsegg, which retracted its bid late last year, was not one of the groups. [via autonews]
