Preview: 2012 Range Rover Evoque 5-door version

In an interview at the Paris Motor Show, Phil Popham, Managing Director of Land Rover, confirmed the fact that the manufacturer will release a 5-door version of the Range Rover Evoque which will be revealed later this year and a photo with the new car has also been released. There are no details regarding the new car but it is expected to share the same engines and tech with the 3-door version.
For those who don’t know, the 3-door version Evoque comes with an advanced 2.2-litre turbodiesel engines capable to deliver 190 PS and 150 PS. The front-wheel drive version of the Evoque equipped with the 150PS 2.2-litre engine achieves 58mpg (UK) and sub 130g/km CO2, while the all-wheel drive version equipped with the same engine delivers 50mpg (UK) and sub 145g/km CO2. A 2.0-liter Si4 petrol engine will also be available. This engine delivers 240PS and can push the car from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 7.1 seconds.
Murray Dietsch, director of Land Rover programmes, said: “We’ve tuned the Range Rover Evoque’s chassis and Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) to deliver precise and responsive steering at lower speeds, making the car nimble and fun to drive.”
