Preview: Vw MKVII Golf

The online community is abuzz about a scene in one of VW‚ videos that accidentally revealed the successor of the MkVI Golf. The current model has been on sale for less than a year and the next model is set to be debuted in 2012 yet so these images are quite unexpected. A promotional video for Volkswagen's recently revealed L1 concept has a scene where a group of designers are hard at work on a clay styling model of the next-generation Golf in the background. We have the freeze-frame from that video. It‚ a bit blurry but the photo does confirm much. Since work is underway on the new Golf, it is safe to presume that the current MKVi car has a short lifecycle. In keeping with the existing design language, styling changes will be subtle and evolutionary. Modifications include a sharper snout and more steeply raked windscreen, as well as narrower headlights and more pronounced wheel arches. VW has not commented about the image. When we last looked for it though, VW has erased it from the official video. [via autoexpress]
