Pricing and specification levels for all-wheel drive Subaru XV revealed

2012 Subaru XV

Subaru has revealed the specification and pricing levels for the XV, which is its latest all-wheel drive crossover vehicle. For entry-level 1.6i S models, the price begins at £21,295. This latest addition to the company's lineup is set to firmly establish itself as one of the best-value-for-money and most capable compact crossover ever. The Subaru XV has achieved the five-star rating of Euro NCAP, making it officially certified as the safest automobile in its class.

In terms of child occupant safety, the vehicle also scores particularly high. This vehicle combines functionality and style with generous levels of standard-fit equipment, making it stand out from among its many established compact crossover competitors. Each XV is fitted with two key Subaru technologies -- a Boxer engine and the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. This will ensure that the new vehicle feels engaging and at the same time, is incredibly safe to drive in all conditions. Subaru is positive that the XV will cater to the needs of current customers while attracting new ones to the brand. The new XV comes with three options of Euro V-compliant Boxer engines -- a 2-liter diesel as well as a 1.6-liter and a 2-liter petrol.

The 1.6-liter petrol engine develops 114ps while the 2-liter petrol generates 150ps. On the other hand, the 2-liter diesel develops 147ps and 350Nm.  The go-anywhere XV comes with a choice of a six-speed CVT automatic (petrol only) or a five and six-speed manual. The 2.0 diesel XV, which is possibly the bestselling version in the United Kingdom, accelerates from a standstill to 60mph in 9.3 seconds. On the combined cycle, it provides a class-leading fuel economy of 50.4mpg with 146g/km of CO2 emissions. The XV also showcases the lowest centre of gravity and the highest ground clearance in class, making it highly ideal for both on and off the road. Even entry-level S models showcase a standard kit list that is better than what many models from luxury compact SUV manufacturers offer. The standard features include ABS, Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control (SVDC), traction control, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning and daytime LED running lights. Airbags on the knee, curtain, side and front are also standard.
