Production version of Lexus HS250h making U.S. debut in 2010

2010 Lexus HS250hLexus celebrated its 20th anniversary in Detroit with the launching of its latest gasoline-electric hybrid called the HS250h, an executive saloon shorter than the IS model. The saloon comes with a 184 hp 2.4-liter gasoline engine which is paired with Toyota’s most current gasoline-electric drivetrain, providing an anticipated, but unconfirmed, 50mpg fuel consumption in town driving and a much higher rating for driving outside town.

This is due to a remarkably aerodynamically designed body that produces a drag coefficient of only 0.27, generating CO2 emissions of only 100g/km. The HS250h unfortunately will not be sold in Europe as the company intends it only for US markets. Lexus, however, might be launching a hybrid variant of the IS that will come with HS250h technology and will be expected to arrive in 2010. Meanwhile, the company’s most current RX450h SUV will be offered for sale this year as part of Lexus’ program to present 10 hybrid models before 2010. Photo gallery after the jump!
