SsangYoung has unveiled the full production SUT-1 ‘Sports Utility Truck’, which has been highly anticipated ever since the four-door pickup concept was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show last March. There are very few changes when it comes to design but several luxury features have disappeared altogether. The headlamps, taillights, grille and bumpers appear the same but they have been dulled somewhat. It is powered by SsangYoung’s efficient Euro 5 compliant 2.0-liter diesel that delivers 155hp and 360 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,800 rpm.
The power is distributed to the back. Consumers may opt for the part-time 4WD and a six-sped automatic. The model that comes with a manual boasts of having an EU economy rating of 7.1 liters per 100 km. It offers a CO2 emissions rating of 186 g/Km.
The automatic variant can be driven 100 kilometers with just 7.6 liters of fuel. It emits 201 grams of CO2 per km. This vehicle was built with an ultra-rigid frame body construction and it comes with front seat dual airbags and seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters. Safety is enhanced with the fitting of ISOFIX attachments for a child seat and ESP (Electronic Stability Program). It also comes with Active Rollover Protection and Brake Assist System (ABS).
