Production version of the Toyota FT-86 coming to the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show

Many of you folks seen the brand new Toyota FT-86 II Concept this month, at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and we have to admit that the car made quite a buzz. According to Toyota, the new design is a direct response to the feedback received from its fans and it appears that this time the Japanese manufacturer did it, and created e very very beautiful car. But, now that doors of the Geneva Motor Show are closed, it appears that Toyota had to take the final decision regarding the future of FT-86 sports car.
According to Japan’s Best Car magazine, the production version of the Toyota FT-86 will arrive by the end of the year, at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in December. Still, nobody knows what will be the total output delivered by this car, but we do know that the FT-86 will be powered by a 2.0-liter petrol unit and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
According to Toyota, this engine will deliver a lively, accessible performance and enhanced driving pleasure. Regarding the design, the new car will be very close to the FT-86 II Concept, which is inspired by the great Toyota cars of the past, starting with the legendary 2000 GT in the 1960s. In the concept form, the FT-86 II Concept measures 4,235mm long, 1,795mm wide and 1,270mm high, with a long, 2,570mm wheelbase.
