Few hours ago we told you about the
Gumpert Apollo and its record at Nurburgring… Well, you can forget about it! The Nurburgring racetrack has a new record! If the time obtained by Gumpert was 7m 11.57s now listen to this: Radical SR8, driven by Dutch driver Michael Vergers, obtained an impressive 6m 48s!
Let‚ hear what the driver had to say: ‚ÄúThe car was great, I could push really hard and it felt clearly faster than the previous SR8 in 2005. It‚ fantastic that we‚Äôve beaten the record; hopefully I‚Äôll get an opportunity to return with Radical in the future.‚Äù said Vergers. Radical co-founder Mick Hyde added: ‚ÄúI‚Äôm obviously delighted, the record has been a real team effort headed up by Phil Abbott and Mike Rowe. Dunlop have supplied us with brilliant, hard-wearing trackday tyres, indeed we‚Äôve only used one set to both drive to the ‚ÄòRing, and set the record. We‚Äôve proved that the SR8LM is not only the world‚ best trackday car, but it‚ also practical enough to drive to and from the circuit. It is a genuine production sportscar, with genuine performance credentials, as we‚Äôve shown today‚Äù. The best time ever on the Nurburgring is 6:11.13, with Stefan Bellof behind the wheel of a Porsche 956 in 1984.
