Range Rover’s new 4.4-litre V8 diesel not coming in the United States

2011 Range Rover Facelift

Everybody was happy when the 2011 Range Rover Facelift was launched because the new model also introduced a new 4.4-litre V8 diesel engine. If you live in United States and wanted to buy a new Range Rover powered by the new engine, you can drop this plan because the new engine will not be available in the U.S. according to company insiders. Why? Well, the reason is very simple: the current U.S. emission laws are equivalent to Euro6 standards and the new 4.4-litre V8 diesel engine is engineered to meet Euro5 standards. These new standards will also force automakers to revise their engines, but not until 2014. But, as usual, there are some good news! The next-generation TDV8 engine will be launched in 2014/15 and according to Range Rover insiders is very likely to come to the U.S. then. [via autocar]
