A 1937 Bugatti was sold recently at an auction in Paris for $4.4 million. The doctor who owned the Bugatti left it in a garage and willed it to relatives. Together with the Bugatti was found an E-Type Jaguar and an unidentified type of Aston Martin. The family did not expect to find these classics in the garage. The Type 57S Atalante, a modified version of the production Type 57, had a lower ride height, more potent and rarer with only 17 copies every manufactured.

The rarest version, however, is the Type 57SC supercharged with only two ever built by the carmaker. Owners of the 57S later availed of the superchargers which enabled power yield to reach 200 hp (149 kW), which were installed in the Molsheim factory.

The standard production 57S yielded 175 hp (130 kW) with a maximum speed of 130 mph. The Atalante was a special version with features derived from the 1935 Aerolithe concept vehicle, with aluminum body panels besides other ground-breaking features.
