Renault DeZir Concept breaks cover at the 2010 Paris Motor Show

The Renault DeZir Concept has been unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The concept, which is designed by Renault’s new design director Laurent van den Acker, “stands out as an illustration of the brand’s commitment to more emotional styling.” In addition, Renault asserts that “the front-end design previews the new front-end identity that is poised to become a feature of all Renault models in the future.”
Measuring 155.3 inches (4,225mm) in length, 77.5 inches(1,968mm) in width and 45.8 inches (1,163mm) in height, this vehicle has a drag coefficient of 0.25, a wheelbase of 101.7 inches (2,582mm) and a ground clearance of 4.3 inches (110mm). This two-seater coupe, which weighs about 880 kg, features a mid-mounted electric synchronous motor that develops 150 hp and 226 Nm of torque.
Power is distributed to the rear wheels through a direct drive transmission featuring a reducer and an active differential. But before you conclude that the output of this electric motor isn’t all that impressive, the vehicle’s tubular steel frame and Kevlar body keep the weight down at 830 kg. As a result, the DeZir is able to hit 62 mph in just 5 seconds. The electric motor comes with a 24kWh Li-ion battery pack and a KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) to provide a range of 100 miles (160 km). When Renault’s Quick Drop fast-charger is used, the battery can reach an 80% charge level in only 20 minutes.
